At the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute at Providence, we strive to create a training environment that stimulates creativity and nurtures professionalism, and puts postdoctoral fellows on a path to their future. Fellowships are for one year and may be renewed annually based on demonstrated progress of the Fellows IDP and will not typically extend past 5 years. Fellows are expected to apply for external funding within 2 years of their assignment and are expected to submit at least one 1st author manuscript within the first 3 years of their assignment; then one per year thereafter. Fellows perform complex biomedical experiments in support of a research activity or specialized scientific service laboratory. Fellows are expected to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for solving problems. Post-doctoral Position in Tumor Immunotherapy

A highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow is sought to join the Laboratory of Cancer Immunotherapy at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute at the Providence Cancer Institute. The Providence Cancer Institute has been at the forefront of immuno-oncology research and clinical care for over 25 years. We offer world-class research and clinical facilities, access to cutting-edge clinical trials, a dedicated support staff and an environment that fosters collaboration between clinicians and scientists. Our Institute is committed to basic and translational research and has conducted many first-in-human clinical trials involving T-cell checkpoint and co-stimulatory antibodies, adoptive immunotherapy with neoantigen-specific and engineered T cells (TCRs and CAR), and novel combinations of radiation, oncolytic viral therapy, and intratumoral approaches.  Find out more about the faculty involved with this cutting-edge immunotherapy research at https://www.providence.org/locations/or/earle-a-chiles-research-institute.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with a PhD in Immunology or a related field (required), a record of productive research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.

Candidates must be experienced in working with T cells, immunological assay techniques, high parameter flow cytometry, and cell culture. Experience in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, viral transduction, and bioinformatics are highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required. Current projects include investigating the mechanisms by which combination immunotherapy regulates T cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity and the molecular mechanisms regulating tumor-specific T cell exhaustion. Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a discipline pertinent to biomedical research
  • Experience in presenting original research in oral and written format is essential, as is proven success in writing and publishing original research
  • Demonstrates a track record of progressive biomedical research that indicates a growing level of research independence

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, genomics or molecular biology or equivalent educ/experience or experience in the field of immunology
